Houston we have a problem! @TheRealSweetBennieRay "Tru Shyt Muzik"

Houston has been on the map musically since the Rap-A-Lot days and even Dallas started to have a bubbling music scene after the “My Dougie” craze, but Fort Worth, TX has not been on the map until now.

Though born in England, Bennie Ray has fully embraced the South and is now charging his way into the industry. “I can’t speak on how hard other places have it”, he says in an interview, “I just know it’s hard here because of the lack of support form consumers and DJs”. This hurdle is not stopping the progress though.
After releasing TS2 last year to much acclaim, Bennie is following up with the release of his latest single, “Tru Shyt Muzik”. It’s hard to compare Bennie to any other artists because his style is his own but if you mix a little Bun B and Scarface with a little 8Ball you would be getting close. If you’ve been looking for that old school flavor in a new school artist, then this song will take you back to the days when live instruments were preferred over digital sounds, and if you had a singer on the hook they could REALLY sing.

Bennie Ray may be a new artist in your book but when you listen to the music then you’ll hear the experience. This isn’t some artist still trying to discover their sound. This is an artist just waiting for the world to discover his sound. Be sure to check out his latest single, and catch up on his old music, you won’t be disappointed, Tru Shyt

Artist Spotlight on Osshawn Burke

Who Run It?

Since Hip Hop really started making noise in the mainstream sector, there's always been a question of Who Run It. We all remember when T.I. made his claim as King of the South and Pimp C shut him down.

Reppin for the whole state of Alabama- Mobile to Bham to the Ville, & hometown of Brundidge. - Osshawn Burke (@whoisburke) lays his own remix in preparation for a new project.

In a recent interview he touched on how after 10 years rapping he’s learned a lot about the industry and why he doesn’t do 360 deals. "I currently own and operate my own company My Brothers Keeper Entertainment", he says.

With a strong team of producers, artists, and engineers a 360 deal isn’t what he’s looking for. "When the time comes and the business is right, a distribution deal wouldn't be a bad idea tho.”

This remix and video is just the beginning. We can expect more freestyles and an upcoming single, “Ghost”, which is dropping in May, just in time for the show Power’s premiere. So all you Power fans be sure to check this out. Timing is everything and right now Osshawn Burke is right on track as he continues to grow his buzz.

Jean D’eau - Living ‘By the Code’

If you’ve been paying to Atlanta’s music scene over the past year, the west side, particularly the West End, has been making a lot of noise.

Ralo and the whole Famerica Records has been leading the way and one of their break out artists is the streets own Jean D’eau.

After releasing Who is Jean D’eau to much acclaim, he follows up with an album ready single, ‘By the Code’.

The new single flaunts his lyrical prowess and offers content that really makes the audience listen.

Not to mention, the smooth production gives you something you can ride to making it a perfect follow up single.

For people unfamiliar with Jean D’eau, this will introduce you to an artist with a story worth listening to.

Checkout Jean D'eau Artist Spotlight Interview on WJIZ 96.3FM

Last year all eyes were on Ralo and the Famerica Team after they continued to make news for their unjust run ins with the law while on tour.

But Jean D’eau is here to prove that they live and move by a certain code. ‘By the Code’ spells it out in musically, but in real life the entire label is not only dedicated to the music but doing something positive for the community.

It’s still early in the year, so fast forward a few months and we should be expecting a new project.

Until then, visit www.whoisjeandeau.com to hear the new single and to catch up on his tour vlogs, and more.

Who is R3DONE (@R3DONE_93)

Don’t expect to hear Dustin Wallace (R3DONE) to be rapping about strip clubs, street hustlin’ and smoking a particular leafy herb anytime soon. For him, those topics just aren’t original anymore.

Click Here to checkout his track "Young N Reckless"

“You won’t find me cussing in my lyrics or degrading women. I’m definitely not into drugs,” stated the talented rapper. “I feel like people get sick of the same old thing heard in just about every rap song. That’s really what’s happening to hip hop. We get it. You have a lot of money, but there’s so much more to life than that. It’s not just money that makes you happy, it is those closest to you.” The first single off the upcoming project is a track titled “1993(Classics Never Die)” Not only is it the year he was born, he says the title of the single represents a golden-era in hip hop that he genuinely appreciates. He has set the release of that track to be on February 12th of this year. “When you hear some of the great artists of that decade, they never really die. They’re music lives on,” he stated. “Looking back at that period of hip hop, there were a lot of masterpieces made at that time that I really appreciate. I really wanted to bring back that classic sound. I kind of tell the story of my life in that song.” R3DONE say it was in middle school that he first fell in love with rap. From there, his love for entertaining others progressed. “Rap along with music in general has been an escape for me, and I hope I’ve been able to touch people with it along the way,” he said. [Single] Lorenzo Torez (@lorenzotorez) - That Guy (There's No Love)

CLEVELAND, OHIO—For Lorenzo Torez’s first single, “That Guy,” the 33-year-old is getting pretty candid when it comes to his own relationships. Past heartaches have definitely served as the inspiration for the relatable track that has already garnered five stars on iTunes and lots of positive reviews. “It’s definitely about me just being fed up with love, being hurt so many times and trying to be the good guy and be faithful in relationships, but I always end up getting burned,” explained Torez. “So in the end, I become ‘that guy.’ I become promiscuous, dating multiple people with no attachment. I’m looking for just fun. The song is about me exploring my options. I’m not trying to be tied down or looking for love.” A music video for the popular song on iTunes is in the works. It is the first single off the upcoming album titled “The Truth” slated to drop this summer. “There’s no holding back on this album. That’s what the album is about. I tell it how it is,” explained Torez. “So far, people are really responding well to the album’s first single because it’s real. It’s relatable. It’s definitely about my life. I’m not pleased with saying that I’m that guy and I’m not encouraging people to do the wrong thing—I’m just saying that this is my life. It’s my story for the time being.”

Artist Spotlight on Bizzie Matthews (@BizzieMatthews)

Bizzie Matthews is an up and coming rap artist with a refreshing sound that gives homage to the Old School Pioneers, while also paves the way with an original New-School flavor. A Chicago native, Bizzie (Brandon Matthews) was born July 27th, 1988 and took and interest in music as an outlet after the death of his beloved Mother Jackie, when he was ten. Writing his first song at the age of thirteen, Bizzie used music as a way to say what was on his mind after such a tragic loss, and a big move North to his current home in Rockford, Illinois.

Bizzie's strength as a lyricist was beginning to show during his years as a high school student. With two of his friends he formed the group 'The Royal Family.' They would perform cyphers in the lunchroom and they would rap over instrumentals. After the group split amicably, Bizzie decided to pursue music seriously on his own. At the age of twenty-two, Bizzie started to perform live. Now, at the age of 26, after having numerous shows under his belt, Bizzie is gaining notoriety for his singles like 'Driving Down the Block' and 'One in a Million.' He was featured in Rude Boy Magazine's "Going Solo" section, and he will also be featured on three mix tapes this summer. Bizzie is currently working on his own Mixtape entitled 'Famous Without The Fame' and 'Being Bizzie' the LP.
