Rest In Peace, Mr. Don Cornelius from @IAMTNeal

RIP Mr. Don Cornelius
(Sept 27th, 1936 - Feb 1st, 2012)

This was a HUGE death for our DJ community. He started off a as DJ in Chicago & later on WVON as an on air personality, the later the creator of the LEGENDARY show, SOUL TRAIN.

Don Cornelius was a perfect example of a DJ who wanted to make change, A DJ who made change not in the game but changed lives for so many artists & people around him.

Don Cornelius exposed some of our already legendary artist & so many new artist to the world by creating something for the urban audience to have an outlet with their music.

He battle the with constant changes in the game & was triumphant in doing so ... Remember, he was a DJ first!

Sadly, around 4am this morning (2/1/12), he was found in his California home dead from a self inflicting gunshot.

This is a very, very sad day for not only the entertainment industry but for black people as well, this man changed lives musically & politically, this a very big blow.

So much of what we do couldn't have happened without this man opening the door. I don't think you realize how many we look at as "legends", he introduced to the world.

So I say, THANK YOU, Mr. Cornelius for what you gave me & being able to at least meet you.

T. Neal
