The artist known as Trevante is quickly becoming the next big thing in both music and in lives of girls everywhere. On his debut album for Imani Records, I Am Trevante [slated for a summer 2012 release], Trevante sharpens his musical chops with a series of slamming singles and songs that will make you stand up and take notice. With a swift eye for fashion and voice reminiscent of the greats, Trevante is ushering a new age of performers.
He signed a publishing deal with Imani Music Publishing/Warner Chappelland set out to work on his debut album with the help of some of the music industry's greatest writers and producers including Ne-Yo, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Diane Warren, Rico Love and features by Soulja Boy and the New Boyz.
"This album is special because it's my introduction to the world. It's about love and purity. It shows my R&B side, my pop side, and it's just overall good music," says Trevante.
His first single off of his upcoming release is the R&B crossover, "Be Your First". Produced by Tank and Song Dynasty, the song tells the modern day story of Romeo and Juliet with an Urban twist. The video for the single was directed by the visionary Benny Boom and has an epic cliffhanger. It has entered the countdown on BET's "106 & Park".
