Smurff was born and raised in West Tampa Florida. He is an independent artist who focuses solely on Hip Hop. He works beside another artist by the name of J Hoody and together they are known as “The Free Lunch Boyz”.
In 2003 Smurff first became interested in becoming an artist. While serving in the USMC, He ran into a group of guys who would record Freestyles in their barracks room. After many moves and relocations, he really did not focus on music. It was more of a past-time, a hobby to keep himself occupied. Somewhere around 2007-2008, Smurff linked up with JHoody and actually began looking at music as a career rather than just a “hobby”.
J-hoody is a split personality artist also known as Mr. Gimmi Gimmie, (who) has taken over the streets with his wild imagination for music. He first started music at the age of 7 playing the piano,violin and drums by ear. that means he can listen to any song and play it back to you. Living in the Old West Tampa he expanded his horizons by performing at the Performing Arts Center down town tampa and in New York for the NAACP competitions. Music followed this very talented young man through college doing shows and step competitions at the St.Louis classics in Missouri. He has interacted with people from all over such as Texas, California, and Alabama, so his style is very unique. At the age 23 he hooked up with his unbalanced cousin named Smurff Dizzle who shared the same unorthodox passion about music as he did.
Presently, Smurff and J hoody are pushing their mixtape entitled “ The Free Lunch Boyz” which dropped in January 2011. Some may have seen them perform at various locations around Tampa Bay such as Fullmoon Saloon, The Blue Shark and the Crowbar to name a few. With upbeat tracks such as "Up Top (Git Block) and "Everybody" to the soulful "Mr. Gimme Gimme" series, the Free Lunch Boyz are sure to win the hearts and minds of various Hip Hop fans.
